• When the Venezuelan government under Cipriano Castro was no longer able to placate the demands of European bankers in 1902, naval forces from Great Britain, Italy, and Germany erected a blockade along the Venezuelan coast and even fired upon coastal fortifications. 1902년 시프리아노 카스트로의 베네수엘라 정부가 더 이상 유럽 은행들의 요구를 진정시킬 수 없게 되자, 영국, 이탈리아, 독일의 해군은 베네수엘라 해안을 봉쇄하고 심지어는 해안 요새를 포격하기까지 하였다.
